A reason to buy Emulator pickups

Most pickup manufacturers rely heavily on measurements and software to validate their designs. We do too—but we choose to go further. Every new pickup we develop gets play-tested in genuine guitars, not simulators. Because here's what we've learned from players: the math doesn't always match the ear.

Theory tells you a coil impedance or pole piece material should produce a certain tone. But when you plug into a tube amp at volume, something unexpected often happens. A design that looks perfect on paper might feel harsh in the midrange or lose clarity in the chords. Conversely, an "imperfect" spec might sing in ways no formula predicted. That's why we test and that's why we listen. Our pickup offerings are a result of that.

Every player is different. Your music, your rig, your hands—they're a unique combination. Yet most pickup companies build to a one-size-fits-most standard and hope it works for you. Some try to sell you on the tone of woods, some try to sell you on the composition of metals, some claim that winding patterns are paramount, and some even try to convince you that pickups don't matter at all. We don't claim to know everything about these matters; we don't want to sell you on the perspectives and opinions of other companies. Instead, we want to make what you ask for:

Your Pickup. Your Tone.

We start with your needs. What's your style? What guitar are you playing? What amp or DAW  are you running? What's missing from your current sound? From there, we customize. Plating finishes, insert materials, coil winds, pole piece spacing—the variables are nearly limitless. We can dial in vintage warmth or modern brightness. Punchy or smooth. Articulate or saturated. The point isn't to sell you what we have, it's to build what you need.

"What If We Don't Have It? What if I don't need a new pickup?"

The honest answer is that sometimes we might not be the best fit. If we can't deliver what you're after, we'll say so. And if we know someone who can, we'll point you their way. In addition, if we find the solution to your problem is not a new pickup, we'll tell you. Countless times we have helped players realize that their stock pickups were great, but there was another factor impacting their tone. Your tone matters more than our sale; sometimes you don't need to spend more to make it happen.

Thank you for trusting us with your sound.
